How to: Build an Affiliate Site You Can Sell for $1M

This is an article that discusses some of the ideas behind what we are trying to do.

Might as well read what others have to say about it.

Ways to get more out of a domain name

Domain Name Farming is about getting revenue from your "herd" or "plot" of the domain names you own.

While I am still working on expanding the metaphores and refining the concepts .. you can go ahead and try a few things with your domain names.

Here is a new program that helps you monetize your domain names with google adsense .. I bought it and I'm working my way through it. I'll let you know what I uncover about it.

Here is a blurb about it: (it's a hell of a lot of blah-blah but in the end, it has interesting ideas. I think it is worth the $77.00 bucks.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< start of blah-blah

1) The guide is created by the same team behind two of the fastest-selling Clickbank ebook of all time: the Day Job Killer...which sold over 7,000 copies on the first day of its release...and Affiliate Project X, which sold over 6,000 copies in the first week. The reason for the massive success of these money-making guides is simple: people who bought them made money, so the success spread and went viral all over the internet! So, you can clearly see that Google's Dirty

Little Secret is going to be THE number One money-making affiliate guide for 2007!

2) The ebook contains the kind of stealthy, underground and downright nasty techniques (stolen from the successful and rich internet money-makers) which the Day Job Killer team is widely renowned for. It is very short and straight to the point, less than 100 pages and is extremely easy to read. It has no fluff, no hype, no outdated black hat redundant techniques that doesn't work any more. The techniques are being used right now by a few people in-the-know who are making a killing with it online.

3) Most people don't want to buy information on how to make money online from the so-called "gurus" in Internet Marketing because they can't relate to the average struggling individual. This ebook is not just a re-hash of the same weak information that you get with those gurus. This system is compiled by a very clever but average guy who just happened to 'crack' Google's secret formula and is now make big money every day online. So, you know you're dealing with someone who understands what it's really like to have to struggle hard for a living.

4) The techniques are very easy to learn. You don't have to be a computer genius, or an online marketing expert, or have a degree in physics, or learn any special new skills to use them to start making big money online. Anyone can do it, even your 7-year old nephew or your 80-year old grandmother.

5) The techniques in the ebook shows affiliates how to avoid losing money on PPC campaigns like Adwords: it reveals more powerful and effective alternative ways for the average affiliate to make money from Google other than having to buy expensive clicks...and then handing the profits right back to pay for the campaign costs. Without the Google secrets contained in this ebook, it is damn near impossible to make substantial money online without risking unbearable amounts buying PPC traffic and losing the shirt off your back in the process.

6) The ebook exposes all the misleading myths about making money with Google Adsense: most people will NEVER make more than pocket change from Adsense...while a few savvy individuals make millions of dollars every year. Google's Dirty Little Secret reveals the whole truth about what is really going on behind the scenes, why most of the Adsense guides out there are worse than useless and how the smart few underground Adsense multi-millionaires are making a killing, laughing all the way to the bank every single day of their lives...and explains how to easily copy their secret formula to grab a piece of the Google mountain of wealth that awaits every one who discovers the formula.

7) You don't have to be rich or have a lot of money to invest in order to start making money with the Google's Dirty Little Secret techniques. Inside the ebook, you will find little-known ways of making money with Google which will generate a huge profit...but without having to spend a lot of money to implement them.

You will learn very clever tricks and short-cut ways of 'stealthily' siphoning off huge amounts of money from other clueless marketers without them even knowing what's happening until it's too late.

8) You will be entitled to free lifetime updates on the program. These techniques are so hard-core and stealthy that they work phenomenally well in today's online marketplace. But of course, as we know, nothing on the internet ever stays the same. When these internet changes happen, Google's Dirty Little Secret will get updated to reflect them so that you continue to make money. And as a buyer of the ebook, you will receive these updates to the program for free whenever they occur, no matter how long ago you bought your copy.

9) Getting large volumes of quality traffic from Google to your website is damn hard to do, right? Wrong? Not when you use the powerful, little-known and highly efficient techniques contained in the blueprint. The ebook reveals some of the easiest and most effective ways to drive hungry, motivated buyers to any website, quickly and without any effort, anytime you wish. The techniques are designed to be easy, fast and furious, so you don't even have to know anything at all about SEO and traffic to be able to start using them immediately.

10) You will NEVER find the techniques anywhere else on the planet...because these are not methods used by regular Internet Marketers. This ebook was created out of a system which is being used by such highly secretive individuals that there is absolutely zero chance of you ever meeting them in your life. So, the information you'll discover in the ebook is literally priceless.

Who has the cheapest domain names?

I'm planning to buy 1,000 of them, but I'm seeing a lot of prices being thrown around ..

I still think 1and1.com at $5.99 is still the cheapest because:

1) no added "icaan fees"
2) the same every year, no 1.99 this year and 9.00 next year.
3) it is for .com, not .info, .name or any other domian tld no one wants.
4) not a price contingent on buying something else.

Let me know if you find out anything different. email me

OK, I wasn't originally planning on actually selling any domain names ..

The idea was that the domain names are like little plants that I can nurture and grow and milk revenue from like they are .. i dunno .. maple trees or rubber plants or something like that.

Now I am getting offers to buy some of them outright .. like for 1K each !!

Maybe we should modify the farming concept to include the option of selling some of them if and when they are showing "revenue fruit".

The value could be tied to how much it is bringing in .. I'll bet there are reasonably complicated formulas for this.

No reason the domain farm can't be creating new domains and selling older ones at the same time they are being cultivated.

Yeah, that's it. A new source of revenue that can support the ongoing creation of new domains .. while pruning and trimming the herd (thinning?) We can shoot for 1,000 domains as a net moving average.

OK, fine.

Here is a useful tool for managing your web pages, sites and domains.

You will need specialized tools to keep track of traffic and perform important optimizations on your pages.

Here is one called WebCEO - it has been around for a while and has evolved quite a bit.

I think it will be very useful. It has a free edition that will let you use it and see what it can do for you. I use it myself.

What if you could get FREE google ads?

I have no idea if this works ... I'm thinking of trying it and see what happens.

I'll let you know what I find out. It costs $67. Seems like a good deal for $87 Million Dollars. I wonder how much a million bazillion dollars would cost?

Parking

The first idea to monetize the 500 domain names is parking.

Parking is the forwarding of an otherwise unused domain name to the site of a special organization to generate income

I signed up with: sedo, afternic and whypark.

SEDO:

AFTERNIC:

WHYPARK:

Sendo and afternic are also domain brokers but that is not our business at this time, we are just parking there.

Whypark allows you to add custom material to the landing page that sedo and afternic don't. But it costs 100 a year for parking 100 domains vs nothing for sedo and afternic. It remains to be seen of the cost is worth the extra customization capability.

The rules, templates and user interface for each parking company is wildly different and hard to figure out.

Some approaches (whypark) let you add adsense and other affiliate links to the pages that might generate revenue.

Blogger could be a free way to build your own custom parking page but it is manually intensive process. It would be better if the blogger page could be done automatically (like sedo and afternic)

So far the biggest hassle to parking is “forwarding the domain names” at the ISP (ex. 1and1.com).

You have to decide on html forwarding, frame forwarding or dns setting at your domain name host.

It has to be done one at a time (500 times).

You need a way to keep track of what you have going where.

Parking is not intended to be a big money maker, but each domain is going to take time to set up and this is a way to possibly earn revenue from domains we have not gotten to yet while other domains are worked on.

Infrastructure - the domain names

I'm using 1and1.com to buy and hold the domain names.

They have hosting packages that include a number of domain names included in the package price.

(they call it "free domain names" - which in the spirit of today's marketing, corporate and government lying behavior is not exactly, actually free but you know the score ..)

You have to buy a package which will hold all the domain names, you can't buy domain names without one. You can add as many as you want, then forward the names to other destinations we'll talk about later.

Each additional name costs 5.99 a year and they can then be parked, have static pages, php pages or be forwarded via frame forwarding or html forwarding to another url location as desired.

1and1 also allows an adjustment to their dns servers for each name for an alternative method of DN forwarding.

Here they are. Buy a package then buy a bunch of names:

Infrastructure - the blog

To describe the journey into 1,000 a day, I've decided to post the daily progress on blogger.

It seems to have many of the features I'm looking in the Blog for including providing modules that allow adsense and possibly other affiliate links.

There is also the possibility of using blogger to host some or many of the 1K DNames ... we'll explore this later.

Why do a blog on Domain Name Farming?

I want to share the experience and thinking as I go …

I was thinking I could make an interesting business by selecting 1000 domain names and developing a method of monetizing them to generate at least $1.00 a day each.

That would suggest they could generate $1K a day ..

I think of domain names as little vegetables that have to be cultivated, hence the farmer metaphore.

Domain Name Farming

My journal into the business of monetizing Domain Names. The objective is to earn $1,000 a day from 1,000 domain names. This blog will record the journey.
