Parking

The first idea to monetize the 500 domain names is parking.

Parking is the forwarding of an otherwise unused domain name to the site of a special organization to generate income

I signed up with: sedo, afternic and whypark.

SEDO:

AFTERNIC:

WHYPARK:

Sendo and afternic are also domain brokers but that is not our business at this time, we are just parking there.

Whypark allows you to add custom material to the landing page that sedo and afternic don't. But it costs 100 a year for parking 100 domains vs nothing for sedo and afternic. It remains to be seen of the cost is worth the extra customization capability.

The rules, templates and user interface for each parking company is wildly different and hard to figure out.

Some approaches (whypark) let you add adsense and other affiliate links to the pages that might generate revenue.

Blogger could be a free way to build your own custom parking page but it is manually intensive process. It would be better if the blogger page could be done automatically (like sedo and afternic)

So far the biggest hassle to parking is “forwarding the domain names” at the ISP (ex. 1and1.com).

You have to decide on html forwarding, frame forwarding or dns setting at your domain name host.

It has to be done one at a time (500 times).

You need a way to keep track of what you have going where.

Parking is not intended to be a big money maker, but each domain is going to take time to set up and this is a way to possibly earn revenue from domains we have not gotten to yet while other domains are worked on.
